Underground to Canada
In class we are reading the historical book ‘Underground to Canada’ by .:Barbra Smucker:. . In my group are Olivia, Jacqueline, Jared and Simone.
We are only on page 20 but so far it is about a young black girl named June Lilly – but everyone calls Julilly. It is a time where blacks were used as slaves and lived on a plantation but in this book the plantation is Virginia. All that has happend is Julilly was taken away from a her Mamma by a slave trader who owns a plantation more labouring then the last.
On the back of the book it explains that all Julilly can think about is the land where it is possible to be free- Canada. And all her and her friend Liza have to do is follow the Underground Railroad.

As you can see in the map almost all of the arrows lead to Canada a place where slavery does not exist.
PREDICTION
I believe that Julilly will someday escape to Canada with Liza and find her mother – Mammy Sally. She may even find romance !
I definitly recommend this book to people who like history and are looking for adventure.
That’s all for now !
